About

My name is Vicki Decker and I have been teaching for twenty-three years. Before moving to Truckee in 1986, I taught for five years in a private school in Berkeley. I taught English and reading to sixth, seventh and eighth graders. As a teacher in the TTUSD, I have taught primarily in sixth grade humanities: social studies, English and reading. For a few semesters I was a faculty member at Sierra Nevada College involved in the teacher credentialing program. I was a supervising teacher for new teachers as well as an instructor in the methods of teaching language arts. However, I love teaching sixth grade!

I am lucky to be married to Ron Decker, who works in the construction field and also coaches Truckee High School’s Varsity Baseball Team. I have three children: Scott, who is twenty and a sophomore at Santa Barbara City College, Kevin, a seventeen-year-old senior at Truckee High, and Kelsi, 15, a sophomore at Truckee High.

My favorite hobbies are reading, skiing (especially that super dry pow), cooking, running, watching the SF Giants and the 49ers, and enjoying the beautiful Sierra Nevada with family and friends.
