Who is Mrs. Colborn?
Sara Colborn has been teaching at Sierra Mountain Middle School and Alder Creek Middle School since 1998. She graduated from UC, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in English. She has earned teaching credentials in special education, bilingual education, and general education. In 2005, Mrs. Colborn completed her Master’s program in special education in order to better meet the needs of all the students in her classroom. She is grateful that she is able to work with sixth grade students with reading, language arts, and social studies.Mrs. Colborn’s primary goal for teaching is to help students become independent, life-long learners who enjoy school. She incorporates grade level standards within a balanced, literature-rich, active learning environment.On a personal note, Mrs. Colborn feels she is so lucky to have a wonderful husband and a big ol’ dog. The big news for her family, however, is that there is a new member! A beautiful, healthy boy named Seamus was born on April 20, 2008! Mrs. Colborn also enjoys running, rock climbing, and cooking when she’s not teaching.Mrs. Colborn is eager to communicate with families and students. Your child’s education is the most important piece in this puzzle, and teamwork between school and home is critical. Please call or e-mail whenever you have questions, concerns, or would just like to share good news.
