About

Ms. Ferlin is a native Californian, born and raised in Oakland. After graduating from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Environmental Science, and working for several years in San Francisco, she began teaching Environmental Education in Yosemite National Park. She taught outdoor education for 7 years in the Sierra and at the coast in Marin and Mendocino, then began her classroom teaching career 12 years ago. Over the past 10 years, she has taught 8th grade science, social studies, and language arts in Truckee.
While she loves traveling (especially in France where she can speak the language), she also knows she is blessed to live here in Truckee where she can hike, mountain bike, nordic ski, birdwatch, and swim.

She loves 8th graders’ energy, humor, and desire to learn about the “real world”. She looks forward to getting know her new students every year.
