Hi All:
I have lived in Truckee for about twenty years. I moved here to follow my dream. My favorite place to be is in the mountains. I love to ski, mountain bike, backpack and hike. Before I moved to Tahoe, I taught in the Rowland Unified School District for four years. I received my teaching credential from Long Beach State University. I married and moved to the Bay Area and went to San Jose State University to receive a Masters Degree in Education. My focus was on Instructional Technology. I worked for about six years as a Training Developer for a computer company. I did a lot of traveling in this job. I even got to work in England for a little while. I transfered to Boston for two years. My son was born in Framingham, Mass. We moved back to California and I went back to Teaching. When my son was about four years old we moved to Truckee. I worked at Squaw Valley and also taught skiing at Northstar for about six years. I worked at Alpine for a couple of years. In the summer I worked in Parks and Recreation. I ran the “Summer At The Park Program’ which is now the “Boys and Girls Club’. I did some substitute teaching until I got a full time job in TTUSD. I taught at Kings Beach School for three years. I transferred to Sierra Mountain Middle School to teach 7th Grade Math and Science. Th
is is my ‘Dream Job’. I have been teaching 7th Grade Math and Science for about ten years. I moved over to Alder Creek Middle School with the rest of the Sierra Moutain Middle School Staff three years ago. I love my job and am living my dream in life.
My son went to school in Truckee, since Truckee Elementary School and graduated from Truckee High School in 2001. He gaduated with a B.A. from Calpoly College in San Luis. He is currently working on a Master’s Degree at Calpoly. His major is English and Literature with a minor in Language. He received a degree to teach English as a second language. He is working on being fluent in Spanish. His goal is to teach English in another country. He is planning on joining the Peace Core when he graduates. I am very proud of him. He has been in classes of most of the teachers at Alder Creek Middle School and has received a positive educational experience. One of my goals is to join my son and teach in another country so I can experience another culture.
